Bread for the Journey

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near.
Isaiah 55:6 ESV

Sunflowers are those golden beauties of summer whose name originally meant 'sun responder'.
There are many flowers that turn their faces towards the sun,
but the sunflower turns to face the sun completely...
leaves and all.

Is there anything quite as striking as that?
There is a lesson here for us.
Are we seeking after God...completely?

 Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His Glory and Grace.

  1. As I look three stories down to the flower garden here in our retirement community, I am reminded of my mother's assessment, long ago, of sunflowers: "Their faces are always smiling!" So, after reading your post this morning, I join the host of sunflowers smiling up at me in saying THANK YOU! Thank you for all your great articles, cookbooks, concerns for our world; most of all - this morning - thanks for the smiling sunflowers!

  3. The presence of sunflower and turning its face towards the sun shows the existence of Almighty God.No man ever could make something like this.
