Thank God for dirty dishes -
they have a tale to tell;
while other folks go hungry -
we're eating very well.

  1. I need to hang this up on the wall.
    It is a great reminder to me that we have plenty while others do not.

    PS: I have been lurking on your blog for a couple of weeks now. I love your recipes, and the photos that go with them. They are wonderful and inspiring.

  2. How true! There are so many less fortunate people in the world. Our family has been so much more concerned and aware of those that may not have as enough to eat. Thank you for the reminder that we are so fortunate to not lack food...in abundance. Kathy

  3. My grandma had this poem hanging on her kitchen wall and I always thought about it as a child. Now I have it in my kitchen.

    Here's the rest of that poem:

    With health and home and happiness We shouldn't want to fuss,
    For by this stack of evidence
    God's very good to us.

  4. I didn't know there was more and I don't know the source or author. I put this quote into my cookbook a few years ago. Thanks, Jody for the rest of the poem. do you happen to know who wrote this?

  5. I stumbled upon your blog and find it interesting. I am also of Mennonite heritage. I was in Germany a number of years ago and they made russian dumplings and I brought a press home..haven't made them for awhile. The little prayer you have here is the one I wrote up and gave my kids when they moved away from home. I'll be adding your blog to my favs...
