Bread Crumbs and Vegetables.

I will never forget sitting down at a meal at my sister in law's and thinking that these are the best vegetables I've ever tasted.  It was very simple, but over the years I forgot about it until on my recent trip to Europe, where my niece topped our asparagus with this exact simple recipe.
Learn how you can impress your guests in a quick and easy way. Let's spruce up our veggies.

  • Bread Crumbs
  • Butter

  1. Melt butter in frying pan on medium heat and add crumbs, stirring frequently and slowly let them brown.
  2. Use one to one measurements.
  3. Generally I use 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs.
  4. Adding hollandaise sauce gives an extra flavor for those festive holidays coming up soon.

Enjoy a simple but tasty twist to making those vegetables pop out!

  1. My mother would do this. I just love it. If you are not a fan of vegetables just put fried bread crumbs on them! She would also fry sour cream. Has anyone else heard of this?

  2. Oh how delicious! My mom almost always put browned butter on her vegetables, which we do here too, but the addition of bread crumbs would be wonderful! A friend of mine spent some time in England and experienced veggies with "minted butter" on them - which is also delicious. I like to add melted butter and a squirt of lemon to my broccoli and asparagus.

  3. Love buttered bread crumbs on veggies! My Mom used to do this all the time and also on Spaetzle - yum!!!!

  4. Sounds good. I have topped my mac and cheese with this.
