Bread For the Journey


When I get quiet and sit down with God’s Word my responses to what I’ve read might start with lines from old hymns embedded in my memory and continue with truths I write back to God in bullet points. Here’s a recent response with passages that I searched for afterwards to confirm these bullet points.
In Christ Alone (Acts 4:12)
Jesus Paid it All (I Tim. 2: 5-6)
I don’t have to leave the tip!
All to Him I owe.
His work on the cross was complete and perfect. (Hebrews 7: 26-28)
I can’t add anything to it.
My job is to be thankful and to live a life of a grateful follower who has been saved from all my sins. (Romans 6: 11-14)
I need to be obedient, walking in the Spirit and not being pulled along by my flesh. (Gal. 5: 16-18)
God’s love empowers me. (I John 4: 7-12)
Jesus gives gifts and the body of Christ to equip me. (Eph. 4: 11-16)
The Holy Spirit teaches and guides me. (I Cor. 2: 12, John 16:13)
Good works are prepared for me to do. (Eph. 2: 10)
I need to willingly respond. (Gal. 6: 9)

Help me, Lord. Have mercy on me, Lord. (Phil. 4:19-20)
Lead me in the righteousness of Christ that you so graciously clothed me with when I heard and believed the Gospel of Christ. (I Cor. 1: 30-31)
Help me shine. (Matt. 5: 16, I Peter 2: 9)

My hope for us all is that we never forget or water down the gospel and that we will be ready to share what Christ has done for us.

    What great truths that are supported with scripture. I need to willingly respond.....that one hit me.
    A great way to spend time with God...and then ready to share what we are learning from the Word. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and finds in scripture.
