Bread for the Journey

Path to Inner Peace

To me the path to inner peace is the knowledge that the Holy Spirit dwells in me and that I can have this peace that passes all understanding, no matter what happens in my life.
Philippians 4: 6, 7 NIV "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every thing, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
If we desire to have this inner peace, we will have to be willing to do the inner work. We need to accept 'what is' and not stress about things that we do not have control over. We need to let go of anger, regrets and disappointments that we experience in life.We can't have this inner peace if we are constantly judging ourselves and others, we need to be willing to admit when we are wrong..to forgive ourselves and others.  If we think negatively of others we will most likely be thinking negatively of ourselves, let us strive to not let the negative rob us of the positive in our lives.
2 Timothy 1: 7 NIV " For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."
To attain this inner peace it helps to memorize Bible verses about peace and to focus on God's power and perfect timing, that we can have inner peace no matter what turmoil is happening in our lives at any given time.
John 14:27 NIV "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

  3. What soothing and uplifting words and so true! Thank you!
I featured you on my blog today. I do a Sunday "spin" around the country sharing some of my favorite blogs with others. Back in the day, Sunday was when we visited with others in the afternoon and "called on people" so I do the same on my blog. I hope that was okay with you and that you will be pleased. I always give full credit and placed a link to your blog from mine. I am at www.farmgirlsam.blogspot.com
Thank you for all you do!

  14. This is a beautiful message and very timely to share. Life is hard, but the community of women helping women is truly evidence of God's grace in motion. Thanks for putting this together - it's the very message I hope helps a friend thru a fragile time with her son.
