This is a quick and easy salad to put together and tasty enough for everyday or serving company. A bag of Cole Slaw mix is the secret.
- 1 bag of coleslaw mix
- 1/4 cup of finely chopped red onion
- 1/2 cup of plumped raisins (soaked in hot water and drained)
- 1 large apple chopped with the peel left on
- 1/2 cup of toasted slivered almonds
- 3/4 cup of light mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons of vinegar
- Combine the Cole Slaw mix with the onion, apples and raisins.
- Combine the Mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar.
- Pour over Cole Slaw mixture, and sprinkle with almonds.
This sounds like a slaw I had in a restaurant in Idaho. It was so good.
ReplyDeleteI love cole slaw...I need to try this variation! Happy New year sweet ladies! ♥
ReplyDeleteI can actually taste this.
ReplyDeleteHi Char,
ReplyDeleteLove your coleslaw, apple salad recipe on the blog today. Have had it a lot and never tire of it. Thanks for posting it.
Apples in cole slaw is like... chips n dip! They just go!
ReplyDeleteI can eat the whole batch myself! My Mother-in-law used to throw a small can of pineapple, crushed or tidbits into the mix and boy was that good too! So much more fun that plain coleslaw! thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of our favourite salads.
ReplyDeleteYummy slaw. I love using the pre-bagged slaw for different recipes...Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm always looking for was to use cabbage that doesn't involve cooking it. This sounds perfect!ui
ReplyDeleteGolly gee, this looks delicious!!! I burnt Hubs and Geek Son out on slaw one summer durin' combine season. Seemed we had an abundance of cabbage that year and I packed them a lunch every day.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, just maybe with a little variation I could get 'Farm Boy' to eat slaw again. I'm swipin' this one sister!
Thanks!!!
God bless ya and have yourself a beautiful day!!! :o)
This looks really good!
ReplyDeleteAnother amazing recipe Char....I'm for sure and for certain gonna try it :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband is not fond of cabbage at all. However somehow this is now one of the salads he requests the most. Our family really enjoys it. Thanks for all your great recipes. So down to earth and user friendly.
ReplyDeleteHelga
I made this for our family gathering today for Easter Dinner. I should have tripled the recipe. Every one loved it and not one spoonful was left. Thanks for the great recipe.
ReplyDeleteSince finding your recipe it has become one of our very favourite. I do substitute craisins for the raisins, as we like them better and they also add more colour. Thank you for this wonderful way to enjoy coleslaw!
ReplyDeleteJust wondering how many this recipe serves?
ReplyDeleteIt depends on what else you are serving it with. This usually feeds 6-8 people if not more.
