Bread for the Journey - Saviour Like a Shepherd lead us.

Saviour, like a shepherd lead us,
Much we need Thy tender care;
In Thy pleasant pastures feed us,
For our use Thy folds prepare:
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus,
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are;
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus,
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.

We are Thine; do Thou befriend us,
Be the Guardian of our way;
Keep Thy flock, from sin defend us,
Seek us when we go astray:
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus,
Hear, O hear us when we pray;
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus,
Hear, O hear us when we pray.

Thou hast promised to receive us,
Poor and sinful tho' we be;
Thou hast mercy to relieve us,
Grace to cleanse, and pow'r to free:
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus,
Early let us turn to Thee;
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus,
Early let us turn to Thee.

Early let us seek Thy favor;
Early let us do Thy will;
Blessed Lord and only Saviour,
With Thy love our bosoms fill:
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus,
Thou hast loved us, love us still;
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus,
Thou hast loved us, love us still.

  1. We used to sing that song in the church I grew up in. It was nice to read those words again!

  2. This was the theme for our wedding and the song I chose to walk down the aisle. Precious words.

  3. Thank you for posting those words. The farther I travel on my life path (the older I get!), the more meaningful that song is to me.

    1. That's true for me as well. I'm now well into the grandmother years and still these words gain new meaning at this stage.

  4. I love this peaceful picture and the beautiful words of this hymn. The words ring more true for me even now as I'm getting older. When we were younger we didn't appreciate the depth of these truths. Thanks so much for posting this Kath. Rhoda
