Chocolate Chip Cookies

I tasted these cookie not long ago at a friends place and asked for the recipe. One can never have too many chocolate chip cookie recipes to choose from. You can substitute Reece's peanut butter chips for the chocolate chips or use half and half.

Ingredients:
  • 3 2/3 cups flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp coarse salt
  • 1 1/4 cups unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Method:
  1. Stir together first 4 ingredients and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl cream together butter and sugars until very creamy. Add eggs and continue to beat until well blended. Add vanilla and mix well.
  3. Add dry ingredients and mix until all dry ingredients are blended into butter mixture.
  4. Stir in chocolate chips.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto parchment lined cookie sheets and bake in 350ยบ oven.
  6. Bake 8-10 minutes. Remove and allow to sit on cookie sheets for 1 minute, then remove to cooling rack.

  5. These sound delish! I love that the recipe calls for coarse salt - a subtle difference but I bet it stands out much more in the cookie to give a real sweet and salty finish. I can't wait to try these!

  6. Hi Kathy - I've made many chocolate chip cookies and have yet to find my favorite one (they either fall flat no matter what trouble-shooting steps I take, including chilling the dough), or they're too crispy.

Would you say these cookies are soft, chewy, crispy or both? And, have you had problems with the cookies coming out flat (great picture by the way).

  8. These cookies have a 'soft crunch' but almost a melt in your mouth kind of texture. I hope you enjoy them.
