This is a really nice dip for a festive gathering. In our circle of friends it has become as popular as Spinach Dip.
I made this for a progressive supper and doubled the recipe, and there was not a lick left. When I doubled the recipe it served 12, but would easily serve more. I think we may have over done it a wee bit :)
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon Beau Monde Seasoning (found in bulk food stores)
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- 3 tablespoons minced dried onion
- 2 teaspoons dried dill weed
- 1 or 2 can of flakes of chicken (optional), or 2 cups of leftover chicken, I always put it in.

sounds delish, I love a good dip.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte - I was suprised to see the Beau Monde reference as I make a dip using this combo of spices as well. My bread dip is made with 2 tins flaked ham, 1 sm. jar Hellman's mayo, 1 container sour cream, 1 Tbsp. Dill weed, 1 Tbsp. grated onion, and 1 tsp. Beau Monde. The first time I made this was for my SIL's wedding rehearsal party 28 years ago and it's been a family favourite ever since. We always serve this in a hallowed out round sour dough bread. You MUST try this combination as well - it's so good!
ReplyDeleteWent to the bulk store looking for the seasoning. They had one called beaumont. They believed it to be the same thing. Going to try it on the family on Thursday and then maybe take it to a potluck on Friday. Also going to make the buttertart bars for the potluck.
ReplyDeleteI try at least one new recipe every holiday--this will be one of them for Christmas or New Year's Eve! Thanks for the delicious-looking recipe.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to see if you had spinach dip on your blog but found this right away and I think I will try this for a change. I am always up for something new.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this my friend, it is what I have been looking for :)

ReplyDeleteI just made this dip. Oh my gosh it is so good. I will never buy another dip mix again. I have a feeling there won't be any left at tonight. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteI'm making this for the 1st time. Never heard of this spice. I googled the ingredients of the mixture so i could purchase them.. but then found the spice at our Bulk food store!!! Another lady and I were comparing notes!!!
ReplyDeleteI made this recipe to go with the bunny bread with the exception of adding the chicken since we will be having meat at the meal. Very nice flavour. ~Rose~
