Forgiveness

The Bible talks about forgiveness 86 times.
It talks about God's forgiveness towards us.
It talks about forgiving one another.
If you really think about it. Forgiving someone is easier than receiving forgiveness.
Come on now, be honest. If you really think about it, how many times do you beat yourself up for the sins in your life?
Perhaps you said something to someone you shouldn't have.
Maybe you made a choice a long time ago that you can not go back and correct.
Maybe there is a hurt with in you so deep that you can not let go.
Yes we know that God forgives us. But can you really accept that forgiveness?
God has freely given us that gift through his Son Jesus dying on the cross.
We have the hope of living in forgiveness through Christ's resurrection.
I invite you today to really be gracious to yourself, as Christ has been gracious to you.
Ask for God's forgiveness, then let it go........with the assurance that you truly have been forgiven.
1 John 1:9 says this....may it encourage you.
If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Leave this place today with the confidence and assurance that not only are you forgiven,
you are PURIFIED!

  1. Hi, de-lurking to say how very true this is. Forgiving oneself is soooo hard; you can believe with your head that you're forgiven, but actually having the heart knowledge of that - well, that's a whole different story.
It's really an effort of will, isn't it, that and continually reminding ourselves that Jesus has forgiven us so who are we to withold it from ourselves. For me, it's an everyday discipline.

Love your recipies, btw. God bless.

  2. I've heard folks say, "If I were God, I wouldn't be forgiving thus and so...." I'm always so glad that our loving Father is who He says He is and He does forgive. You are right though - it is harder to receive forgiveness. May the Lord help me as well to be as gracious to others and myself as He has been to me. Good thoughts!

  3. Such good thoughts. Jesus does forgive us, but at times we have a hard time letting it go and forgiving ourselves. And you are right we do not truly accept His forgiveness until we can let it go. Thoughts to think on...
    Thanks for sharing!
