Christ - the Solid Rock

My Hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name.

When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds with in the veil.

On Christ the solid Rock, I stand;
 All other ground is sinking  sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, His covenant, His blood support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound, Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone, Faultless to stand before the throne.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

This song has been going through my mind all week.
No matter what my circumstances are,
even when I find myself overwhelmed by life or foundering in my faith,
I can go to The Rock  who is Christ Jesus and who alone is my firm foundation.

May you also find reassurance and hope in
Christ, our solid Rock.

  1. Amen! So thankful those words and the tune have been ringing in my heart and soul all my life with such meaning anchoring my soul through the storms of life. Now they are even more meaningful as in the latter years of our life I am walking through stage 4 and beyond of cancer with two precious friends, one knowing the Solid Rock as a sure foundation for her soon-to-be-heavenly abode, and the other not sure. Pray with me for her as I will be sharing His Precious Gift of a sure salvation this week when I travel to see her. Thanks so much for this great reminder of the Solid Rock this morning. Thanks.

    1. Anonymous, I have stopped to pray for you this morning as you walk with your friends during their times of illness and uncertainty. May God go before you this week as you visit with your friend, and give you some precious times of opportunity to share the gift of salvation. May her heart be ready to hear and to accept. Also for your friend who has accepted Jesus, may He continue to be her strength. Bless you as you care for and love into these dear ones lives.

    2. I am joining Kathy in praying as God uses you to share His grace and mercy with your dying friends. May He protect you as you travel and give you the right words that will assure your friend of God's love for her. And may your other friend experience a joyful anticipation as she nears Heaven's gate. God bless you for your willingness to be used of Him.
