Maple Nut Bread Pudding

Cold winter nights beg for some comfort foods and when you bake this bread pudding in individual dishes it suddenly becomes a company dessert which smells wonderfully fragrant. I pop it in the oven while dinner is being served.

  • 1 french bread which is a half recipe of Anneliese's French Bread
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon maple flavoring
  • 1 cup toasted walnuts
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  1. Thinly cut off the crust of the bread and cube into 1 inch cubes.
  2. Butter individual gratin dishes.
  3. Divide the bread between the dishes. I made the recipe into 6 dishes.
  4. Sprinkle the cranberries over the bread.
  5. Sprinkle the toasted walnuts over the bread.
  6. In a large measuring cup, beat the eggs, add the milk, cream, flavoring and syrup and salt.
  7. Pour over the bread and cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate several hours.
  8. Remove plastic wrap and bake @ 350 F about 25 minutes or until browned and set.
  9. Serve warm with ice cream.

  1. What a yummy recipe! The presentation in individual dishes is such a great idea. I'll bet the smell of these baking during dinner is divine.

  3. Ok. I've seen the recipes, and I've seen your pictures. Now I think you really must make a post about how you stay slim while eating this way. I think I'm not willing to stop eating this way, but I'm not a good role model for the slim. So, how's about it you gorgeous women? And I note, your husbands also seem to retain their youthful "patina" while eating at our table.

I know there will be a lot of copy on this throughout the media, as there is every January. But I'm wanting to hear from you. What you actually do to achieve this.

  6. Anon1 - I loved your comment LOL - That's been my question ever since I got to know these gals. I'm one of the MGCC girls who, with her hubby struggles constantly with the whole weight thing. Knowing those slim gorgeous gals I think that heredity and being way more active than I am has alot to do with it. However, speaking for myself, moderation is the key word. I'd rather eat less than deny myself these awesome goodies, like this bread pudding!
Thanks asking the question I've wanted to,
    Bev

  7. Just wondering if anyone else has the problem I have, when I try to print a recipe, I only get the first page of the recipe. Nothing else prints on the 2nd page except the title, link on top, and 2 of 2 (bottom left) and date/time on the bottom right. It gets a tad bit frustrating!

Other than that, I love your website!
