Fruit Salad with Sprite
Refreshing in any season...this is a favorite fruit salad at our home. Whenever we host a brunch at our place, you will likely find this fruit salad on the table. For a crowd, I fill a punch bowl with our favorite fruits...then pour Sprite over. It is then served as a side dish in a fruit nappy. In summer, I use whatever fruits we have on hand and serve it as dessert. The grands love it. One granddaughter told me that she made it at home, but they had no Sprite so she used Gatorade and it wasn't the same! (I guess not.) The Sprite keeps the fruit (bananas, apples, pears, etc) from browning and adds a little sparkle and sizzle to your fruit salad. Since this is more of an idea than a recipe, I thought a Saturday might be the perfect time to share it.
I live with my husband of over fifty years on a farm in the beautiful Fraser Valley of British Columbia. We enjoy having our grown children and our delightful grands living nearby. I usually have a project or two on the go and the coffee's always on!

Looks and sounds yummy! I'll be giving this a try!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fresh and delicious. Very similar to my mother's fruit salad.
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious! New fruit salad for our Christmas table!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to sprite up the salad!!! I have used "5 Alive" fruit juice but will have to try your Sprite idea next time. Fruit salad is always one of the best desserts - something we almost always had on the Sunday table as a side dish to squares/pie/tarts/cake etc. while growing up.
ReplyDeleteI do this when freezing mixed fruit in the summer makes the fruit taste fresher when you eat it...Take the left over tonight if there is any and put some in little dixi cups and freeze really good and refreshing kids love this...
