Often meals are served buffet style in this room - an easy way to entertain.

I really have to choose only 1???!!! Well......I guess I find myself most immersed in my young family right at this point in my life so let's say I'm most looking forward to "favorite family meals." Look forward to seeing this cookbook - free or purchased!!!
ReplyDeleteTracy
Everyday I go to your webpage to see your recipes which I love. I like your recipes as I am a scratch cook and enjoy cooking from scratch. There is no comparison to the way you cook and your recipes.
ReplyDeleteAlana
My favourite celebration is Thanksgiving - since my birthday is also in October we tend to combine the two - but I don't mind; since all the family gathers to celebrate with us.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite, would be Christmas. I love baking. I check your site every morning, it's part of my computer routine, while i have my morning coffee. Your recipes i find are ones i would use the most & i've gotten some surprises on here, wishing there were certains ones. For example the tortilla shell one's recently. I've got to try this one. Maybe this weekend, i'll get around to do it. I find they are getting expensive to buy in stores here, especially when i'm cooking for a family of seven. Looking forward to more good recipes & a chance at your cookbook, whether free or purchased.

ReplyDeleteI'd have to say Christmas. We bring food together to share and spend the day together. Kids and grandkids. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win this new book. It looks amazing.
My most favorite celebration is not necessarily Christmas BUT the pre-Xmas month prep. Each year (for almost the past 14 years), we've had a huge family and friends cookie bake.... We encourage everyone to bring two types of cookie dough and the recipes... and we ask if someone has a family recipe that is near and dear to them to please bring that. We gather these handwritten recipes and make a little recipe book each year. Usually held the first Sunday in December, the annual cookie bake brings back such memories of family and friends no longer with us but through their recipes, we feel like they are right beside us... Great Aunts, Great Uncles, Grandmas, Grandpas... traditions and food truly keep our loved ones close to our hearts! I can't think of anything else that can evoke memories quite as vividly as food!
ReplyDeletewe are rejoicing that prayer was ansewerd by you and many other;s that a distanced daughter we know is alive after 13 years, of unknown,, yet still distance ,,, but all we can do is celebrate each day we know she is safe (yet)

ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to celebrating SPRING! I love watching things come back to life all around me!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time is Easter and Spring Time in general. We now host family gatherings throughout the year at our home in the country. I am continually looking for ideas on celebrations and would love to have your book in my kitchen as a go to guide. I also was raised watching and helping my mom in the kitchen and feel that it is an honour to cook, bake and clean for my family!
ReplyDeleteAny meal shared with family or friends is a celebration. Since Dave died, I don't wait for holidays or "special occasions"; each day is a gift and celebrated as such.

I always look forward to celebrating life - in the every day and in those special moments of brand new life or the continuance of one that has been around awhile.
ReplyDeleteI love to celebrate birthdays! And, a happy coincidence: the release date (May 2) for your new cookbook is on MY birthday! Double celebration! :)
ReplyDeleteAnxiously waiting to celebrate my retirement (five more years, big sigh) so I can make every recipe in your books.
ReplyDeleteI like every celebration! Anything that brings family together to rejoice and remember different events.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to celebrating the wedding of our son and his fiance this summer! Family means so much to me!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite celebrations are birthdays! Times to cook the honored guest's favorite foods and sweets. A grand time to celebrate God's gift of life and the unique blessings that each person brings to our world.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite celebrations would definitely fit under "Family", which by my definition would include all of our kids and their close friends! There is nothing better than having these young adults fill my kitchen, living room, table, and couch for an evening together. I'm all about easy comfort food, and I look forward to reading your book for more ideas! This book is a huge accomplishment - congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new book, I am sure it will be a huge success! What I look forward to the most is when my youngest son comes home for a visit. He is a grad student at Northwestern and while he is only three hours away, his schedule doesn't permit much free time. He comes home and his two older brothers and their families come for dinner and a visit. It is one of my greatest joys in life listening to the three of them talk about their younger days or just talk. These times are truly treasured.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to the birth of our baby in June!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new cookbook! I'm still trying to get one of the first ones :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite celebration is a baby shower for a new grandchild. One is coming in September!
I am looking forward to celebrating being reunited with my husband. He is in another country and we have been waiting to get the OK so that we can finally start our lives together. We will have a wedding ceremony here for my family and friends. This has been three years in the making and I am so grateful to God for finding me someone who is such an extension of His love. I may not have the finances to make this a big party but it will be one of the most heartfelt. Thanks ladies. Sincerely, Deborah Groom

ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to celebeating my daughter's 2nd birthday! I love your cookbook and blog!
ReplyDeleteI have always enjoyed celebrating my children's birthdays. Ever since they were little, it has been a highlight in my year. I love coming up with new themes each time, a theme of things that are important in their life at that particular time. I very much enjoy making a cake or cupcakes that match the theme, and even make a whole meal that fits with that theme or make their favorite meal. Of course I get a thrill out of decorating accordingly as well.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to our family birthday celebrations almost every month. And looke forward to seeing your new cook book!
ReplyDeleteAny holiday when I can have all of my children and grandchilren around my table is wonderful to me! I've been following your blog for about a year and love it!
ReplyDeleteI do love to celebrate Christmas. Yummy food and decorating and there are so many ways to celebrate Christmas. Lisa Sharpe
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a 'favorite' celebration. . . . .anytime we can be together with family is special to me. . . . .anything from a huge feast to a coffee and donut is a celebration. And when there are grandgirlies involved. . .well. . .what more can I ask! ! Looking forward now to the celebration of grandbaby #3. I would love to win a copy of your book!

I am looking forward to Easter at the moment. It i s difficult to choolse a holiday that is my favorite because it depends if the family can get together or not. If they can then that is the one for this year! Love your recipes especially the Easter breads!
ReplyDeleteAny moment shared with friends and family is an opportunity to celebrate and enjoy life!
ReplyDeleteFamily celebrations and great food are intertwined for me on many different levels. I'm blessed this season of my life to be planning for two very special occasions that will involve delicious food, pivotal life moments and ever deepening relationships. My daughters high school graduation as well as my own small & intimate wedding at home. After being widowed 8 years ago, both of these events are tremendous blessings and remind me of how amazing God is in His care & provision for my family on every level!
ReplyDeleteI love having the family home! I have often gotten a recipe from your website to help me out on tjhose occasions.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to celebrating my sister's wedding this Spring, and throwing her a fun bachelorette party!
ReplyDeleteI am also looking forward to celebrating winning this cookbook! :)
I always look forward to Thanksgiving with my daughter and her family. Since she is an only child, she is even more precious to me!
ReplyDeleteThis past week, after a bone scan, we praised God and celebrated a good report from the Doctor. We had Salmon, baked potatoes with the usual toppings, and Charlotte's Apple & Cabbage Coleslaw. Delicious!!!
ReplyDeleteI especially love wedding and baby showers. I love throwing them for and with friends and making the honoree feel special! It also gives me the opportunity to go obsessive-compulsive and make butter mints, lol. I always declare that I'll never make them again, but I haven't lived up to that declaration, yet!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to celebrating moving into our new home that is currently being built! I love this blog and your recipes. I would love to have this cookbook in my kitchen :)
ReplyDeleteAs the only family not mennonite on our road, it would be great to have this cookbook as I could invite them all over and have something tasty for them!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new cookbook!
ReplyDeleteAny family gathering is worth celebrating. Still missing our father who passed away almost three years ago.
I am currently looking forward to the wedding of our daughter in one month! Would love a copy of this beautiful new cookbook!
ReplyDeleteAnytime I can have my kids over...is my favorite family celebration. I look forward to preparing something that they don't neccesarily prepare for themselves. Am looking forward to some new recipes in your new cookbook! I know they will be enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteWhen I get to visit my family. I live a 14 hour drive from my parents, and my four siblings are scattered around, so getting together can be hard to collaborate. Any time we get together it is quite the celebration.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy birthday celebrations the best!
ReplyDeleteWe have recently found out that we are expecting our fourth child so that is definitely a celebration we are looking forward to. As far as traditional celebrations go, it is very hard to pick just one, but I think I like Christmas best only because people do seem to make more of an effort to get together.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! I check out the new posting for the day almost every morning and I use it regularly as a resource for my cooking and baking along with your first book.
I have always loved Christmas The whole Family comes together we have two birthdays and our first wedding anniversary this upcoming year so it will be extra special :) I love this blog and congrats on the new cook book!!
ReplyDeleteI love the receptions I give after each of my grandchildren's dedications. I've done 17 so far and am looking forward to number 18!
ReplyDeleteBirthdays, babies, bridal showers, weddings, anniversaries...we'll have it all this year, besides all the annual events like Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving! We celebrate everything! :)
ReplyDeleteYour new cookbook looks fabulous! Can't wait!
Risa Barkman, Abbotsford, BC (Hi Julie!)
Birthdays have always been a big deal when I was growing up and as a young mother that is still my favorite celebration.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday was Saturday and my son's is on Monday. We are actually celebrating both today
ReplyDeleteI would be hard pressed to pick a favourite celebration. There are so many great reasons to celebrate. But, if I did have to pick one I would say that showers are my favourite - either a bridal or a baby shower! Jolene Taylor
ReplyDeleteI love Christmas - Celebrating and spending time with family is the best.
ReplyDeleteI love celebrating my kids' birthdays! They are always so excited and it brings me back to when I was a kid! ;)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite celebration is Easter.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite celebrations are the birthdays of my grandchildren. I have made all of their birthday cakes through the years. And they come up with some interesting ideas for cakes. The most recent was a bonfire cake for our 14 year old.
ReplyDeleteI love celebrating the 4th of July. Not only is it about freedom but it's also my dad's birthday and it was my grandpa's birthday too. I love all of my family coming together.
ReplyDeleteEvery time our family gets together it has been a celebration! When our children were young our meals were a celebration just because we were able to eat together. Their friends were always amazed. Now that we are Grandparents it has not chanaged. We are fortunate to have our families live close by so we see them often. But when we are gathered around the table for our family dinners in the kitchen amidst all the noise and commotion, talking, laughing and all else that could be, that is a celebration. A celebration of a true gift from the Lord, Family. Judy
ReplyDeleteAny family gathering with some friends included works for
ReplyDeleteme....I love having people interact with one another without
cell phone texting, tweeting, computer activities....Just
people talking in person with people....like it used to be
before all this technology....Thanksgiving is m favorite of

ReplyDeletefriends gather and interact with each other is fantastic....I love
Thanksgiving best because we have so much to be thankful for.

Your blog is a daily blessing! The wonderful recipes plus the "Bread for the Journey" on the weekends - all help to make life more enjoyable and meaningful. My favorite celebration is probably Thanksgiving because it is a reminder to constantly have grateful hearts to God for all our undeserved blessings. Also, it means that at least some of our 5 kids with their spouses and the 11 grandchildren may enjoy the time with us!
ReplyDeleteI most look forward to Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI love holidays, especially Easter.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a second book.

I will always love Christmas the most!

ReplyDeleteI think I like Christmas best of all, however Easter comes very close. Thanks to our Saviour and Lord for these celebrations!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to see your new cookbook! I would love to see your tips on hosting a gathering for a meal etc. If I don't win here I'll definitely buy one. All the best! Pamela
ReplyDeleteI look forward to celebrating Christmas and birthdays. I love entertaining and planning it all. Enjoying time with family though is the best.
ReplyDeleteThe children's birthdays are lots of fun - a child's excitement is so fun to watch! But the best celebration will be in heaven to meet Him who does so much for me!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, and have your first recipe book, would love another!
Anything that brings together family and friends either planned or imprompti is my idea of celebration. God bless you all! emjay99@hughes.net
ReplyDeleteI think I love any celebration that involves the whole family; siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles, oma and opa etc. I love a house full but I didn't always - as a young bride/mom I was overwhelmed by the amount of time and effort that was needed. Now that my kids are old enough to really help, we are really learning to enjoy the preparations and look forward to the large family gatherings.
ReplyDeleteCelebrations, of all types, are what make life fun. My husband and I celebrate whenever we go for coffee together -- we celebrate the fact that we still enjoy being together after 54 years. Celebrating each day that God gives us to be able to share His love with family and friends. Your recipes are inspiring and tasty (I convert many to soy and gluten free)! ekh
ReplyDeleteI love celebrations of any kind that include my family.....I just love being with them!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite celebrations are any when the family is all together, especially now that all us "kids" all have little ones too. And Christmas and Easter are always the best!
ReplyDeleteLyndene
I look forward to Easter each year!It is my favorite celebration each year because new life is starting to spring forth and it reminds me of the new life bought on the cross for me.
ReplyDeleteI love hosting people for meals! Especially breakfast/brunches! Would love to see what kind of tips and amazing recipes you offer for those occasions!
ReplyDeleteSunrise! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new book - what a wonderful way to do good in the world!
I love celebrating the holidays! Can't wait to see what your book has to offer my celebrations!!!
ReplyDeleteI completely enjoy July 4 as a time to gather for excellent food and celebration !
ReplyDeleteThanks for an opportunity to win your book. ;)

I always look forward to Christmas. It's a time when we get a chance to see the most people we care about, family and friends, and share our time, meal, treasured moments.

I love Thanksgiving. I think that the gathering of family, large and small, old and young, is just so warm and wonderful. No gift giving just giving the gift of self. We always have our children and grandchildren, parents , siblings, nieces and nephews and anyone who wants to be a part of family, for dinner (or as long as they want to stay). Congratulations on your cookbook. So wonderful that proceeds will be benefiting those in need.
ReplyDeleteI love any celebration where we get together as a whole family. The next time we will all (almost all) be together is my niece's wedding in July. Can't wait for all the love and laughter that we share, when we are together!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite celebrations are those of reunion, for instance when my 15 year old son returned from 2 weeks in China, when my husband and 2 older sons returned from a housebuilding mission in Texas and Mexico, and when my daughter returned from her servant event in Northern Saskatchewan. I am so happy to see them home and feel so blessed to hear of what was done there for others and seeing God's work done through them. We are so fortunate and it is such a blessing to share Christ's Love. Keep up the yummy recipies and the wonderful work you do for others here and in the Ukraine! Rose Molzan
ReplyDeleteMy favorite family gathering is Christmas, since that is the one time each year we make an effort to come together as an extended family, but my favorite celebration is Resurrection Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite celebrations are those that my family can share together. If all of them were at every celebration, I guess my favorite would be the 4th of July!

ReplyDeleteThe whole week of Christmas is a yearly celebration for our family. It is a very spiritual event and also an intimate time for close family to remember Our Saviour's Birth. As a life celebration, I await the marriage of my only daughter.

I love anniversaries. Spending time with hubby alone is much needed with five kids and my in-laws in the basement suite. We are celebrating 21 years in two weeks!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to celebrate the return of our KING and Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ! He is the one who will make all things new! And until that day, I will celebrate Passover.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting such a lovely giveaway! I think new babies are such a wonderful thing to celebrate! But, then, so are weddings, new homes, anniversaries, birthdays...and just family gatherings. Christmas is my all-time favourite holiday...people coming and going...it's a special time of year! Blessings to you all! Camille
ReplyDeleteA new baby is my favorite celebration. There's nothing quite like it! And lucky me, my best friend had a baby girl on Christmas Eve and my stepsister had a baby boy on February 11th. :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to read the book, especially on what to bring to comfort a friend. I had multiple chronic illnesses and have met several friends who do also. Cooking can be such a great help to someone who isn't feeling well, especially those of us who deal with it 24/7/365.

I love to celebrate my kids birthdays. They are still small, but I love the task of creating special memories for them on their day, hoping that they will in those gestures get a glimpse of my great love for them.
ReplyDeleteWe love to celebrate birthdays! Every person gets their day - and in our family it usually ends up stretching out for a few days :) Monica McSween

ReplyDeleteMy favourite celebrations these days are any times I get to see my grand-babies, some of whom live clear across the country. Of the standard holidays, I enjoy Easter the most--the reason for Christmas, when you get right down to it. :) Would love to win the new cookbook!
