Crispy Twisters

This is not so much a recipe as it is an idea. It's kind of interesting that we were introduced to KFC Twisters while in Indonesia . . . maybe because we rarely pick up KFC while at home, but when you are in a foreign land, you are very happy to get something that tastes like home.

I get my breaded chicken strips (crispy tenders) at Neufeld Farms which is a local family run business where you can get many ready to go meal ideas. Having a bag of these in the freezer comes in handy. Bake breaded chicken strips according to instructions.

Heat soft tortillas on medium heat in Teflon pan (no oil), about a minute on each side or until golden spots appear.

Wash loose leaf or iceberg lettuce. If desired, chop lettuce. Cut up a few ripe tomatoes. Get out dressing of choice. We like ranch or mayonnaise ... also some salsa if you like.

Spread warm tortilla with dressing, cover with lettuce, tomatoes and hot chicken. Wrap or roll up.
Serve with Caesar or spinach salad. These taste as good as the original at a fraction of the cost and still give the cook a break.

  1. This is a very nice, simple idea. I really like it. Don't have any crispy tenders here but I can make some.

  2. These are fabulous :) I also enjoy them with a sweet chili mayo, rather than a ranch dressing. Yum!

  3. I make these regularly, but I use chicken breasts that I cut into strips, season in various ways and freeze in meal size portions. I do a chili pepper, lime and honey, a BBQ and a lemon. It's great just to pull them out of the freezer to thaw for a quick and delicious meal.

  4. Great idea! A lot of the fast food places have these now (Tim Hortons, McDonalds). I'll make them at home for a snack between school and the basketball game for my teenagers.

  5. I hear the street food is fantastic over there. (As long as you can identify the meat). I heard recently of someone who thinks she may have eaten a pet type meat.

I might want this with a satay peanut sauce in place of salad dressing. But I'm all for the idea of not much prep or cleanup and still good clean nutrition.

    Thanks.

  11. I love it that something so simple as a twister from the KFC in PR became a treat for you and Dad to enjoy (home-made). Something to remind you of your first visit here. Love you & miss you, Mom!

  12. Oh these look great. That's a good reminder for a quick meal. My husband would add a strip of bacon and call it a chicken club twist. I'm going to make a note to visit Neufeld farms soon.
