Apple Blueberry Dump Cake

I saw this idea on a cooking show and wanted to see if it would work with some of my frozen fruit. It did turn out and those who ate it enjoyed it. Use whatever frozen fruit you might have. I had blueberries from our bush and apple slices from our tree.

Ingredients:
  • 1 quart frozen blueberries
  • 1 quart frozen apple slices
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 3/4 cup oatmeal
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter

Method:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Dump frozen fruit in a prepared (greased)  9 x 13 or larger baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle cake mix evenly over the top of the fruit.
  4. Sprinkle oats evenly over the top of the cake mix.
  5. Sprinkle nuts evenly over the top of the oatmeal.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the top as evenly as possible.
  7. Bake in 350 degree oven for 55-60 minutes.
  8. Cool slightly and serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

  1. Would that be 1/2 cup butter? This sounds quick to put together and yummy! Am having kids and grandkids stopping by tonight and this would be perfect! Will try it with a gluten free cake mix! Thank you!!

  3. US quart or Imperial quart? Makes a difference of 1 cup for each fruit so just want to make sure. 4 cups or 5 cups if you aren't sure which is which. Thanks, looks wonderful and a great way to use up the fruit leftover in the freezer.

    1. U.S. quart and a little extra or less fruit won't make a big difference in this recipe.
