Bread For the Journey

Recently, my husband and I went out to view some property
my brother was in the process of buying.
On the way we passed this tree growing against the rock.
 I asked Vic to stop so I could snap a quick photo.

I was struck by the security the tree gained by leaning against the rock;
nestled snugly.
No wind or storm could shake it.
It was so anchored it did not need to support itself on its own strength.

I immediately saw the analogy.
 Scripture speaks of believers being 'trees' (Psalm 1:2)  ..
.and we read of how God invites us to be anchored on the Rock.
We need not depend on our own strength;
we need not fear the strong winds or shifting sand under our feet.

Think about the tree in my photo,
then picture yourself as a tree, leaning into God.
With that in mind, read the following verses....

"There is none holy like the Lord, for there is none beside You,
Nor is there any ROCK like our God."
 I Sam 2:2

"The Lord is MY Rock......The God of my strength, in Him will I trust....
my stronghold and my refuge...
My Savior, You save me from violence....."
II Sam 22:2b,3

"For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion, in the secret place....
He shall hide me, He shall set me high upon a Rock!"
Ps. 27:5

 " ......and that Rock was Christ."
I Cor. 10:4b

  2. The tree and the rock are so close it's difficult to see where one stops and the other begins. Oh to be that close to Jesus.
