Black Bean Chicken wings

This recipe is from my friend Vicki. She is an amazing cook. Each time we are guests in their home I look forward to what she will serve. I am never disappointed! I have used this wing recipe for quite afew years now and the recipe is asked for almost each time. I usually buy 2-3 packages of fresh wings and mini drummettes at Costco and divide. When I need an appie it is so easy. Just thaw and bake.

25 chicken wings
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
4 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp black bean sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 cup tomato sauce
2 cloves garlic-crushed
1 tsp pepper

Marinade wings in sauce for several hours or over night. Line a baking sheet with foil. Bake @ 300 for about 2 1/2 hours. They get more 'sticky' and flavorful the longer they bake. Every half hour I base with the sauce in the pan and turn the wings. These can be kept warm on low in a crock pot. They are best fresh, but I have baked them the day before and heated in a crock pot or dutch oven.

  1. Hey Kathleen...when did you post this? I must have missed it. I saw you sitting there in 'draft' and was waiting for this recipe. Looks scrumptious and wings are a aure bet in my home. Black Bean sauce is a staple in my home so this looks easy enough for me to whip up. Thanks for the post! Cool ideas but you got me confused about the 'apple'....is that part of another recipe?

  2. I got this recipe from Vicki as well and it's great! Trish - I think she meant appie as in appetizer. I make it as a meal every now and again and everyone loves it.

  3. Funny, Trish. I thought it said apple too, but then looked closer and it was appie. (maybe it's been changed and I still saw it wrong . . . blame it on still wearing my "morning glasses" rather than my contacts.)
Kathy, the picture is such that you can almost taste them! I know they will be good!

  9. Charlotte, I think that is the first Christmas party I have heard of this year. What fun! These will be a hit forsure. My home still has a touch of the 'fall' look, but today I popped into one of my favorite local places and I got abit of that Christmas feeling. Hard to beleive it is that time of year again. Kathy
