I have been trying for 10 years to figure out her recipe which she never kept. She was a child. We used of course Dutch cocoapowder, but in stead of a bit of hot water we stirred in a tablespoon of cream per cup into the cocoa/sugar mixture to dissolve it a bit. With wholemilk from our own cows it always tasted better then modern ready mixes. I have returned to the real thing, come november we'll change again from buttermilk to warme chocolademelk.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6454531829676162260.post-66351126255914565352011-08-06T17:00:35.705-07:002011-08-06T17:00:35.705-07:00I've made this often for myself and my family....I've made this often for myself and my family. How my mother came up with meals day after day, no convenience store nearby, having to come up with something with the resources at hand...still amazes me. She baked bread twice a week, and buns always on Saturdays. Sometimes, I guess when she was fresh out of ideas for what to make for supper, she would make a huge potful of homemade cocoa, and serve it with slices of fresh bread, peanut butter, Rogers Golden syrup and homemade jam. Supper was served, and we were delighted with it. This post makes me want some to that... maybe at least of cup of hot cocoa. - Marg N.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6454531829676162260.post-38092071533662482512009-11-23T16:02:32.326-08:002009-11-23T16:02:32.326-08:00That sounds delicious!
